ATIA charity walk raises $175,000 for local organizations

JUNEAU - The Alaska Travel Industry Association's Third Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk on May 10 raised $174,599 for 100 Alaska charities. The VICW started in 2000 in Anchorage and has since grown to include Fairbanks, Juneau and Ketchikan.

The 2002 walk drew over 4,600 walkers across the state. The walk is highlighted by stops for food and beverages along the way.

This was the first year Juneau participated in the walk, and participants raised $14,000. Ketchikan brought in $5,100, Fairbanks raised $34,000, and Anchorage raised $122,005.
