Mike Folkerts, a recreational boating safety specialist with the U.S. Coast Guard, stands Tuesday next to a shoreside box containing life jackets at Harris Harbor. The Coast Guard held a brief ceremony for the dedication of the boxes, which were built for the Kids Don't Float program. Any boater can borrow a life jacket free of charge from the stations. There are 465 lifejacket loaner boxes in Alaska, including six in Juneau at Douglas, Harris, Amalga Aurora, DeHarts and Fisherman's Bend boat harbors.
