Assistance for hearing impaired offered
SAIL is offering skill training, advocacy, counseling, assistive devices, referral, community integration and peer support services free of charge to individuals who experience a disability.
The agency also offer sign language interpreters for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.

Library contest winners announced
Winners of the Juneau Public Library's summer reading contest for the past two weeks have been announced.
Henry Melville and Nina Schwinghammer each won two tram passes from the Mount Roberts Tramway for the week of July 11. For the week of July 18, Petra Miner won a helicopter two for two from Temsco Helicopters and Hillary Buck won gift certificates from Rainy Day Books and the Alaska Fudge Co.
All youths up to age 19 are eligible for the weekly drawings. Students can enter their name when they check out books. One drawing is held for kids up to 12 years old, the other for youths 13 to 19 years old.
Gardening contest offers $5,000 prize
A $5,000 cash prize is being offered to the winners of a nationwide community gardening contest. The entry deadline is Aug. 7.
Individuals may be nominated for any or all of four categories: classroom gardener, for high school programs; good neighbor gardener, for those who donate their produce to community members in in need; outstanding young gardener, for those 18 and under contributing to community gardening programs; and urban greenup gardener, for volunteers who help beautify areas through gardening efforts.
Winners will receive $5,000 and $1,000 in products. Honorable mention winners will get $1,500 cash and $500 worth of products.
