Juneau police, fire officials, citizens, the Juneau Crime Line and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

At about 2 a.m. today, police chased a car that hit a parked vehicle on Fourth Street, then hit another parked car in a nearby private parking lot. Curtis Howard, 20, was arrested for drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to stop for a police officer, reckless endangerment of his passenger, underage drinking and resisting arrest. He was also charged with refusing to take a breath-alcohol test. He was found to have an outstanding $500 Alaska State Troopers warrant. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Thefts, lost/found items:

At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, a dark blue cell phone was found on Commercial Boulevard and brought to the Juneau Police Department for safekeeping.

At about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reported finding a bag of makeup and an address book from a university at the ANB Hall.

Animal encounters:

About 8 p.m. Tuesday, a black bear was reported getting into garbage on Harris Street. Neighbors joined together to oust the bear by banging on pot lids, and anointing the bear with pepper spray. The bear left the area.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, a bear was reported chewing on a soda can on Gail Avenue. The bear was not being aggressive, but was said to be making considerable racket.

Vehicle accidents:

At about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a non-injury motor vehicle accident on Egan Drive outbound near the McNugget intersection. A 1979 dump truck driven by a 57-year-old man collided with a 1992 Ford Festiva driven by a 66-year-old man. The younger man was cited for tailgating.

At about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Capital City Fire & Rescue and police responded to a vehicle accident at 2.5 mile North Douglas Highway. A silver 1996 van had turned left in front of a black Ford Probe. A 39-year-old man was issued a citation for failure to yield. There were no serious injuries.

Warrant arrests:

At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man, 33, was arrested at an Auke Bay business on an outstanding $500 Soldotna Alaska State Troopers warrant issued for failure to appear for a disposition hearing. He was taken to state prison.

Shortly before 5 a.m. today, police served an outstanding Juneau Police Department warrant on a 26-year-old woman. The warrant was for failure to appear for a status hearing, failure to pay a fine, failure to complete alcohol screening, and failure to complete 20 hours of Community Work Service.
