The Sitka All-Stars scored six runs on five hits and a walk in the fifth inning as they rallied to eliminate the Juneau West All-Stars 7-2 on Monday at the Southeast Alaska Majors Division Regional Little League Baseball Tournament at Sitka's Villandre Field.
Juneau West led 2-1 entering the fifth inning, before Sitka's rally. The victory landed Sitka in tonight's championship game at 6 p.m. against Juneau East.
The winner of tonight's game will stay in Sitka, which hosts the state tournament this weekend. The majors division is for players ages 11-12, and the top teams eventually wind up at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
Matt Noreen pitched the entire game for Juneau West on Monday. Christian Jacobsen went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Eric Fagerstrom was 1-for-3 with a double and a run and Josh Magnuson went 1-for-2.
Juneau East advanced to today's title game with a 6-5 victory over Petersburg on Monday. Damon Ludwig had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, singling with the bases loaded and no outs.
