Public harassment of women is wrong

Letter to the editor

I'd like to take issue with Mr. Heidersdorf's July 25 letter in which he asserts that the morning-after pill should be considered an abortifacient. If one is to accept his criteria for this determination, then birth control pills used in the more common way should actually be considered abortifacient too. Therefore, in Mr. Heidersdorf's mind, there must be no place for these pills in our society. Well, he's certainly entitled to his opinion, regardless of how disingenuously it's stated. Fortunately, his opinion is in the minority and women are legally entitled to both contraceptives and abortion. What is unethical, in my opinion, is the public harassment of women by those who want to punish them for their decisions.
