Juneau resident Erika Xanthe Carls and Brendan Patrick Johnston of Lake Elmo, Minn., were married July 16, 2005, at Union Presbyterian Church in Saint Peter, Minn. An outdoor reception was held at the arboretum of Gustavus Adolphus College, where the couple met. A Juneau reception will be at 2 p.m., July 30, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
She is the daughter of Mark and Becky Carls. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota in Mankato. She is pursuing a career in teaching biology.
He is the son of Ray and Vickie Johnston of Lake Elmo. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College and is a seminary student.
Sarah McQuade was the matron of honor, and Marie Miller, Amanda Coate, Shannon Schultze and Ana Sietsema were bridesmaids. The best man was Andrew Thill. Jeremy Johnston, Steven Carls, Peter Jara and Mark Hulzeboz were the groomsmen. Lydia Willaert was the flower girl.
The Rev. Robert Maharry, the Rev. Gordon Carls and the Rev. Paul Rees-Rohrbacher officiated at the wedding.
The couple will make their home in Lauderdale, Minn.
