Heroes in practice

Posted: Thursday, July 27, 2006

Capital City Fire Rescue paramedic Trevor Richards, right, uses a chain saw to cut a ventilation hole Wednesday during a fire fighting exercise on the building formerly occupied by Alaska USA Credit Union. He is assisted by CCFR Capt. Beth Weldon. Western Construction, Secon and Fred Meyer's is allowing CCFR to use the building, which is scheduled for demolition soon to make room for Fred Meyer's expansion, for fire training today and tomorrow. Fire fighters will practice horizontal and vertical ventilation, emergency egress and other firefighting training on the building. View more photos on spotted.juneauempire.com.
