Standoff ends with assault arrest of Fairbanks man

FAIRBANKS - A 25-year-old Fairbanks man is in custody after a standoff with police.

Officers Saturday morning stormed a house and arrested Lee T. Dinius on a charge of assault.

Sounds of shots at 10 p.m. Friday drew police to the home in the Lemeta neighborhood off College Road in northeast Fairbanks.

Police said a man had shot up a dresser in the home a few days earlier, and on Friday night, put a gun to his girlfriend's head. The woman later safely left the home.

Police accused Dinius of refusing to come out, taunting officers and pointing weapons at them, including a machete.

Early Saturday, as Dinius was distracted at the front of the home, a police tactical team entered from the back. Dinius was subdued with a stun gun.
