Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Jake Abbott, far right, and Cadet Tech Sergeant Will Tonsgard III are proud recipients of the Civil Air Patrol's Wright Brothers Award. The award is earned after cadets complete the first phase of CAP's cadet program. The two look forward to promotions in their service as cadet non-commissioned officers. Abbott spent ten days training at Fort Richardson's Camp Carrol in June, while Tonsgard attended a 10-day search and rescue/survival course in Sitka recently. The SAR course was commanded by Lt. Charles Lamica of the Alaska State Troopers. Both 17 year-old-boys are seniors at Juneau-Douglas High School.
