Approach route should be scrutinized

Monday's crash of a Temsco helicopter on takeoff brought to mind a disaster scenario I've considered for a number of years. Temsco's departure and approach route over Egan Drive and the Fred Meyer store is poorly thought-out and puts Juneau residents at risk. Fred's has recently added a gas station, adding to my concerns should a helicopter crash in that area.

Another consideration is the frequency of Temsco traffic so close to the main airport approach for jets and other aircraft.

I am hopeful that Federal Aviation Administration officials take into consideration the location of the Temsco facility as part of their accident investigation.
