Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Police arrested a man, 38, on an assault charge at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Franklin Street. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A personal digital music player was reported stolen at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday from an unlocked Ford Explorer in the 900 block of D Street downtown.


• An electrical and cable television box was reported damaged in the 4000 block of Slate Drive in the Mendenhall Valley.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a man, 18, on a charge of failing to exercise due care to avoid an accident reported at 5:14 p.m. Wednesday on outbound Egan Drive at Glacier Highway near Jordan Creek. He was driving a 1990 Ford truck that reportedly struck a 1997 Ford van in the rear. The van was driven by a woman, 24. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the truck and $3,000 to the van.

Traffic stop:

• Police impounded a vehicle at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday on Village Street downtown.

Found property:

• U.S. savings bonds were turned over to police at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday after they were reportedly found on the West Glacier Trail in the Mendenhall Valley.

Animal complaints:

• At 4:21 a.m. Thursday, a woman reported that a bear got into her garbage cans at her house and at her neighbor's house in the 5900 block of Montgomery Street in the Lemon Creek area. Bears also were reported in two other places in the Lemon Creek area, at 4:52 p.m. Wednesday in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway and at 1:23 a.m. Thursday in the 5800 block of Mountain Avenue.

Calls related to alcohol: 0.

Calls related to domestic violence: 0.
