Juneau Dance Unlimited will bring the Weber Dance Company to Juneau, August 10-21, for a two-week dance intensive and dance performance.
Weber Dance Company, based in Boston, MA, is a dance performance troupe whose mission is to develop concert dance pieces that engage the public in the beauty and expressive power of movement. Becca Rozell, born and raised in Juneau, is a member of the company and will serve as one of the instructors.
The two-week dance intensive will feature a morning session from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for students ages 9-12 years and will include classes in Ballet, Modern, and Improvisation/Composition. The afternoon session from 1:30 - 6 p.m. for students ages 13 years through Adult will feature classes in Ballet/Repertory, Modern/Repertory, Composition, and Dance History. Dance students with all levels of ability are invited to participate. Classes will be held Monday through Friday at the JDU Dance Studio located at 8420 Airport Blvd., Ste. 202. The Weber Dance Company will also present Sprout, an evening of dances, on August 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center, 350 Whittier. The dance intensive students will also perform. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the JDU office, Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, Hearthside Books, or at the door.
The Weber Dance Company project is supported by the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council and the City and Borough of Juneau. Juneau Dance Unlimited is non-profit organization providing the Juneau community with dance instruction and performance opportunities throughout the year.
