ANCHORAGE - A spokesman for the state Department of Transportation says high water closed a runway at the Seward airport, but all roads on the Kenai Peninsula remain open.
Heavy rain contributed to a rock slide Tuesday that shut down the Alaska Railroad into Seward.
Transportation officials warned Wednesday that water releasing from the Skilak glacial dam could cause minor flooding on the Kenai River at Ridgeway, Soldotna and Sterling.
DOT spokesman Roger Weatherell said high water closed one runway Wednesday at Seward but the crosswind runway remained open.
The rock slide was at the mouth of a small tunnel near railroad Mile 11. Train officials said service to Seward would be halted until at least Friday.
Until tracks are fixed, the railroad will bus customers to Seward.
