Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Police arrested John Holland, 38, at 1:39 a.m. today near Gastineau Avenue for drunken driving. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and his car was impounded.


Police cited a boy, 16, for shoplifting at 2:11 p.m. Monday near Mendenhall Mall Road. He was released to a family member.

Police received a report of a stolen green men's Schwinn bike at 9:44 p.m. Monday near Julep Street.

A man, 40, reported at 12:24 p.m. Monday a Nokia cell phone, valued at $100, was stolen from his unlocked car near Julep Street.

Police received a report at 7:17 a.m. Monday from a man, 53, who had $18 in cash stolen from his unlocked car during the night near Columbia Boulevard. Two other cars in the lot were rifled.

A woman, 25, reported stolen items from her unlocked car at 7:20 a.m. Monday near Taku Boulevard. Another unlocked vehicle in the lot also was rifled.

Vehicle accidents:

Police cited a man, 37, for careless driving at 11:15 a.m. Monday near Julep Street after he hit two parked vehicles. The man struck a Dodge pickup and a Plymouth van with his Honda Civic. The Honda sustained $3,000 in damage, the Dodge had $2,000 in damages and the Plymouth had $1,000 in damage.

Animal encounters:

Bears were reported at 1:08 p.m. Monday near South Franklin Street and the Red Dog, 3:15 p.m. on Monday near Gail Avenue, 7:14 p.m. Monday near Blueberry Lane, 9:58 p.m. Monday near David Street and Douglas Street, 10:45 p.m. Monday near Glacier Highway, 12:10 a.m. today near the court building, 12:12 a.m. today near David Street, 12:21 a.m. today on Franklin Street, 3:47 a.m. today near Douglas Highway, and 5:14 a.m. today near Gee Street.


Police arrested a man, 40, at 11:50 p.m. Monday near Kimberly Street. He was charged with criminal trespassing, providing police false information and larceny. He was lodged at the state prison.
