I just saw the photo of Lt. Gov. Fran Ulmer holding a pistol and trying to portray herself as a advocate of firearms ownership.
Fran Ulmer highlights her stand against gun control
If she truly supported the Second Amendment, she would leave the Democratic Party and disassociate from those powerful Democratic senators like Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who are trying to take away our right to bear arms. In case you are wondering, these three Americans think that the only ones who should have the right to bear any type of firearm are the police and the military, the rest of us be damned.
I am a state of Alaska probation officer, who is currently working in an administration that tell its officers they can carry a firearm on duty, but at the same time actively obstructs any effort by officers to do so.
How ironic. Our lieutenant governor, who can request a trooper escort at any time, and carries a weapon for personal protection, has chosen to deny the same right of protection to her employees, who deal with dangerous felons every day. I was certified as a peace officer when I passed the academy, yet, unlike AST and all municipal police, I am not allowed this protection.
If she's unwilling to let a peace officer carry a weapon on duty or off, what makes you think she truly supports the average citizen's right to bear arms?
And just a word to her campaign handlers. Please do your research - Michael Dukakis, 1988, M1A Abrams tank. Thanks for the laugh.
