Police seek man accused of assaulting girl in Lemon Creek

A 16-year-old girl was assaulted by an unidentified man at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Lemon Creek, according to the Juneau Police Department.

The girl told authorities she was walking home when a man started following her near the Alaway Avenue and Glacier Highway. He attacked her and threw her to the ground, police said.

She screamed for help.

When residents came to help her, the man fled the scene on foot. She suffered minor injuries, including bruising and redness, police said.

Additional information was unavailable.

The man was described as an "Alaskan Native male, approximately 20 years old, with no facial hair, long black hair, wearing a dark hooded jacket and blue jeans." He had "an abnormally wide, thick neck," police said.
