Due to incorrect information provided the Empire, an article in Monday's paper erroneously stated the governor and lieutenant governor did not receive the $1,200 payment most state workers were paid last month. The governor and lieutenant governor did receive the payments. Legislators did not.
The payments were part of labor contracts negotiated with state employees' unions. Non-union workers generally receive the same package union workers do. The governor and lieutenant governor, however, will not receive the 2 percent and 3 percent raises that most state workers will get in the second and third years of the labor contracts. Legislators won't get the raises either.
