Juneau Freewheelers' Association-Tour of Juneau stage race: Prologue: Two-mile time trial. Meet at Upper Mendenhall River Bridge, race starts 6:30 p.m. Entrants must be JFA members ($10 individuals, $15 family), and there is a $5 race fee. Thursday Aug. 3

Juneau Freewheelers' Association-Tour of Juneau stage race: Stage Two: Five-mile Eaglecrest Hill Climb. Meet at Mile 0.5 Eaglecrest Road, race starts 6:30 p.m. Entrants must be JFA members ($10 individuals, $15 family), and there is a $5 race fee. Friday Aug. 4

Juneau Freewheelers' Association-Tour of Juneau stage race: Stage Three: 10-mile False Outer Point Time Trial. Meet at False Outer Point parking lot, race starts 6:30 p.m. Entrants must be JFA members ($10 individuals, $15 family), and there is a $5 race fee. Saturday Aug. 5

Juneau Freewheelers' Association-Tour of Juneau stage race: Stage Four: 35-mile Tee Harbor Road Race. Meet at Tee Harbor Fire Station, race starts 10 a.m. Entrants must be JFA members ($10 individuals, $15 family), and there is a $5 race fee. Southeast Road Runners-Frank Maier Marathon/Douglas Island Half-Marathon: Meet at Savikko Park in Douglas, marathon starts at 8 a.m. (7 a.m. early start for slower runners and walkers), half-marathon starts at 9 a.m. Marathon is a 26.2-mile USTAC-certified course following the Douglas and North Douglas highways to past False Outer Point and back to Douglas. Marathon entry fee is $20, with t-shirts and medals to all participants. Half-marathon is 13.1-mile course along Douglas and North Douglas highways. Half-marathon entry fee is $5 pre-registration and $8 day of race. Barbecue at the Sandy Beach finish line for all runners, post-marathon social at 6 p.m. at downtown Bullwinkles. Doubles Beach Volleyball Tournament: Registration opens 9-9:30 a.m. at Sandy Beach, play begins at 10 a.m. Men's and women's divisions. Tournament entry fee $10 per person, event is fund-raiser for Juneau-Douglas High School volleyball team. Info: Grace Gorman, 789-4658.

Juneau Youth Football League seeking coaches The JYFL is seeking both football and cheerleading coaches. Info: 463-1562.

Stay off Adair-Kennedy field Juneau Parks and Recreation Department wants to remind the public the Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park soccer/football field is still closed for the installation of the new artificial turf. The project may look complete, but testing is still being done to validate the turf's warranty. The public should stay off the field until further notice. Info: 586-5226.

JDHS sports physicals available Sports physicals for Juneau-Douglas High School activities will be given at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9, at the Juneau-Douglas High School commons area. Info: Sandi Wagner, 463-1916.

SEARHC school physicals Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium physician's assistant Karl Bausler will provide free sports physicals for students planning on participating in Juneau-Douglas High School sports programs. The physicals will take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1; Thursday, Aug. 10; Tuesday, Aug. 15 and Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Men's and women's volleyball Juneau Parks and Recreation men's and women's volleyball team manager packets are available now at the Juneau Parks and Recreation Office, Room 218 of the Municipal Building. Team registration will take place at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Assembly Chambers, with late registration Aug. 11 at the office. Teams will be accepted on a space-available basis only.
