I would like to comment on the high rate of accidents on the Fred Meyer access road that will continue to occur unless action is taken to correct the problem. A traffic study should have been completed with the record amount of accidents happening on this road.
I was involved in an accident on the Fred Meyer access road on Dec. 11, 2007, and fractured my ankle, which required extensive care. As of today, I am still in a wheelchair since my ankle was shattered and required a couple of surgeries. Although I am in the healing process, it has taken away my freedom.
I sympathize with the person who was recently involved in an auto accident and sent to Seattle with multiple fractures. Her healing process will be very lengthy.
After my auto accident, I was unable to return to work for five months. This resulted in exhausting all my leave and loss of income, not to mention totaling my vehicle. I have been unable to work full-time as yet.
Drivers need to be more alert and considerate of other drivers in this particular area, in all areas for that matter. I would also like to know why a traffic light has not been placed at this intersection. If there is some regulation preventing a traffic light being placed at this intersection, further consideration needs to be given. I am hoping my letter to the editor will generate correspondence and perhaps the end result will be a solution to preventing the accidents that will continue to make the news in the area of Fred Meyer intersection.
