When I say let's agree to disagree it means that I have my belief and you have yours and neither is superior. Now, that is tolerance.
It's not just garbage that creates the bear problem that isn't really even a problem. When humans live in the wilderness, we're living in the bears' back yards. If you were a bear who lived in the country, wouldn't you want to come into town? Just be careful.
To the people who think that bears can simply be transported and set free, that is not always practical. Plus, it is expensive and time-consuming. Some problem bears will find their way back and have to be killed. If people took more responsibility for their trash there would be less bear killings. But we all have to accept the fact that we have to protect human life more than bear life. We are users of the land and in control of it, not just custodians.
In response to the person who was so willing to cut down Kake during a bad situation - we have a huge water project that has been going on for a couple of years. They are laying the pipes right now for a totally new water supply.
To the person complaining about people parking in handicapped parking, I suggest you call the police and wait until they get there to ticket the car. That's what I do.
To those people who want the road to Skagway, have you forgotten about the 13 eagle trees and the 56 avalanche shoots?
Let's have a vote on this road thing right now. What's there to lose?
Holding a vote on the road isa poor idea. All it is going to do is rile up the whole town. What's the point? There is no money to build it and the governor and Haines and Skagway are against it. People in this town should stop kicking dead horses and try to get along better.
