Community invited to retreat
This weekend's dance and meditation retreat at the Shrine of St. Therese will include two dancing circles open to interested community members.
"We want people to know that they can come just for the evening," said Leah LaBar, who is helping organize the event. "We have two dance leaders one from Montana and one from Kansas City and we will be doing dancing, exploring drums and rhythm, sound, breath work and meditation."
The retreats, sponsored by Dances of Universal Peace, have been taking place for about five years. Events begin tonight at 6 and continue until mid-afternoon Sunday, at a cost of about $150. Fifteen people are registered so far.
"We have a strong core group and then occasional visitors," LaBar said.
Drop-ins to the Friday and Saturday circles are asked to make donations to help offset the cost of using the shrine.
