New honcho for a new season

Posted: Tuesday, August 02, 2005

New Juneau-Douglas High School football team head coach Bill Chalmers, left, speaks to freshman defensive end Jacob Pernula, center, and junior nose guard Chris Toupin during the Crimson Bears' first practice of the season on Monday afternoon at the Reilly Richey Memorial Football Field at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Chalmers, a longtime teacher at JDHS, replaces Richey this season after Richey died in March from complications following a lengthy bout with cancer. Juneau's first game is Aug. 13 against Kenai.
