Douglas Jay Hart

Former Juneau resident Douglas Jay Hart was killed in a one-vehicle collision on Sunday, July 29, in Port Angeles, Wash. He was 44.

He was born Sept. 22, 1962, in Kennewick, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Lee Parker; and sister, Deann J. Ragsdale.

He is survived by his father, Glenn D. Hart; sister, Debra J. Bennett; and stepmother, Carole L. Hart.

He was 8 years old when he moved to Juneau from Washington. He was in public school all the years he lived in Juneau.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1985. He took up farming in Napa Valley, Calif., and then Christmas Valley, Ore. He moved to Port Angeles in April 2006. He was also employed by Port Angeles Golf Club as a grounds keeper.

No services are planned. There will be a private family gathering in August.
