JUNEAU - Housing First Inc., a nonprofit housing organization devoted to providing affordable housing options to Juneau residents, is accepting applications for down payment assistance until Aug. 14. All funds must be dispersed by Oct. 31.
Home Opportunity Program, a loan program offering assistance for down payment and closing costs for qualified home buyers, ends October 2009. The program is intended to help income qualified individuals and families purchase homes.
Income limits for the city of Juneau are as follows: $44,800 for one person; $51,200 for two people; $57,600 for three people; $64,000 four people; $69,100 for five people; $74,250 for six people; $79,350 for seven people; and $84,500 for eight people.
More than $300,000 is now available in Juneau, allowing up to $30,000 per household according to need and availability. The Home Opportunity Program is being offered by Housing First, with grant funds from Alaska Housing Finance Corp. These loans are interest-free and partially forgivable depending upon the length of time a home buyer remains in the home.
