Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Bruno Volk, 49, was arrested for drunken driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.10 percent at 4:07 a.m. today on Douglas Highway. He was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and his vehicle was impounded.


A woman reported at 11:23 a.m. Thursday the theft of her black leather wallet from her unlocked vehicle on Creek Street. The wallet was valued at $10 and contained about $75 in cash.

A man called at 1:18 p.m. Thursday to report the theft of a two-person kayak and other kayaking items from Auke Bay Harbor. The stolen items are valued at $2,460.

Hit-and-run incidents:

A 23-year-old female reported that her teal 2000 Toyota Rava was struck while parked near the downtown McDonald's, causing a scratch to the driver's side.

Animal encounters:

Bears were reported on Lemon Creek Road at 8:39 a.m. Thursday, on Montgomery Street at 9:19 a.m. Thursday, on Blueberry Lane at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, on South Franklin Street at 11:18 p.m., 11:26 p.m. and 11:34 p.m. Thursday, on Vista Drive in Douglas at 11:46 p.m. Thursday, and in Pocket Park at 1:19 a.m. today.

A sow with two cubs was reported on Jennifer Drive at 1:07 a.m. today.


A vehicle on Taku Boulevard was rifled and about $1 in change was taken at 10:24 a.m. Thursday.

A man, 24, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for arraignment at 11:04 a.m. Thursday on Sherwood Lane. He was taken to state prison.

A man, 33, was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging attempted sexual abuse of a minor at 11:19 a.m. Thursday on Glacier Highway. He was taken to state prison.

A man, 29, was arrested for driving with a revoked license and providing false information to a police officer at 7:52 p.m. near Back Loop Road and Conifer Lane. He was taken to state prison and the vehicle was impounded.

A man was reported sleeping on South Franklin Street near a bear at 2:26 a.m. today. Police performed a welfare check, and the intoxicated man was taken to Juneau Recovery Hospital. The bear was gone when the officers arrived.
