Ideology vs. facts

Posted: Sunday, August 03, 2003

I enjoyed the July 8 edition. The lead editorial ("The Voice of the Times") indicated the salmon industry was in great shape. On the other hand, a lead story on the front page of the same edition reported state aid to "struggling fishing communities." And, friends tell me, the trollers have been hard pressed to get $1 per pound for their kings.

Things can become quite confusing when ideology competes with facts. Both stories can't be right.
