Juneau Freewheelers cycling club - Tour of Juneau: This annual three-day stage race includes the 5-mile Eaglecrest Hill Climb on Friday night, a 40-kilometer (25-mile) time trial on Saturday and the Auke Rec. Circuit Course Road Race on Sunday. An expert and a sport division is available for each race. For Friday's stage, meet at 6 p.m. one mile up Fish Creek Road (the road to Eaglecrest Ski Area) for a 6:30 p.m. mass start. For Saturday's stage, meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Douglas Bridge end of the North Douglas Highway for a staggered start that begins at 1 p.m. For Sunday's stage, meet at 9:30 a.m. at the totem pole at the Auke Recreation Area for a 10 a.m. race start (expert division course is eight laps for 48 miles total). Territorial Sportsmen, Inc. - 59th Annual Golden North Salmon Derby: The derby weigh-in stations are open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Amalga Harbor, Auke Bay and Douglas Harbor, with the packer open in the mid-morning through late-afternoon on the fishing grounds north of town. Derby tickets are available at several locations around town and they must be validated before you can fish. The derby raises money for college scholarships. Southeast Road Runners club - Frank Maier Marathon and Douglas Island Half-Marathon: Races start at Savikko Park in Douglas and follow an out-and-back course along the North Douglas Highway. The marathon (26.2 miles) starts at 7 a.m. with a 6 a.m. start for slower runners and a 6:45 a.m. start for wheelchair racers. The half-marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 9 a.m. with an 8 a.m. start for slower runners and an 8:45 a.m. start for wheelchair racers. Juneau Parks and Recreation youth indoor soccer registration - Juneau Parks and Recreation youth indoor soccer will be played this fall. Registration begins Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nugget Mall and again from Aug. 13 to Sept. 3 via fax, mail or drop-ff. Glacier Swim Club swimming clinic - Glacier Swim Club is offering a swimming clinic for children ages 6 to 11. Juneau Youth Wrestling Club wrestling camp - This camp takes place Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 4-6, at the Marie Drake gym. The camp will be led by Ohio State University assistant coach Ken Ramsey. There will also be other accomplished wrestlers from throughout the country at the camp. Juneau-Douglas High School cross-country running practice - Practice starts at 3 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, with Aug. 1 being the first day. Practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be at Juneau-Douglas High School, while Tuesday and Thursday practices will be on various trails around town. Juneau-Douglas High School swimming and diving practice - There will be a mandatory meeting for all JDHS students interesting in joining the swimming and diving team at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8. All students should meet at the front door of JDHS at 2:15 p.m. Swim practice will be at 3 p.m., while diving practice will be at 6:30 p.m. Swimmers should bring dryland, swim workout clothes and completed physical screening form. JRC/The Alaska Club kids sports camps - Three kids sports camps take place on Mondays through Fridays in August.
