Juneau resident Sione Tu'avao Ma'ake, 82, died July 29, 2006, at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 8, 1924, in Pangai Ha'apai, Tonga, to Ma'ake Mafi and Neomai Moa. He married and raised his family in Tonga before he immigrated in 1998 to the United States.
Family members said, "He will be remembered by many for his generosity and his sense of humor."
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Viliami, Sosaia, Tevita, Kuli Sr. and Sione Ma'ake; and sisters, Tangikina, Vika, Salome Ma'ake and 'Animatila Kaufana.
He was survived by his wife, 'Alisi Tu'ilotuma Ma'ake; sons, Tevita Tuliakiono Ma'ake and his wife, Kueni Tupou, Viliami Halakeituai Ma'ake and his wife, Lota Afeaki, and Kuli Ma'ake and his wife, Mele Hoko Lata; daughters, Lavinia 'Ofahelotu Sekona and her husband, Joshua, Salome Fifita and her husband, Taniela Fifita, and Malianive Mausia and her husband, Sione Va'e 'o Tu'itonga Mausia; brothers and sister, Manase Ma'ake, Ma'ake Mafi Ma'ake and Tio Feinga; and numerous grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 5. A burial will follow after the service.
Pallbearers will be Vehekite Ma'ake, Viliami Halakeituai Ma'ake, Kuli Moetoke Ma'ake, Siua Sekona, Va'e Mausia and Siaosi Feinga. Honorary pallbearers will be Tevita Ma'ake Sr., Stanley Feinga, Tevita Langi, Hu'itauanga'a Ma'ake, Siunipa Ma'ake, Mateitalo Ma'ake, Nelaite Ma'ake, Jaimie Sekona, Tu'avao Ma'ake Jr., Manase 'o Vailiki Ma'ake Jr., Vili Silver Ma'ake Jr., Tevita Ma'ake Jr., and Ma'ake Mafi Ma'ake Jr.
