Anchorage district slices stimulus plans

ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage School Board had to do some trimming after learning the school system will get $34 million in federal stimulus money - not the $52 million it initially thought.

The board on Thursday unanimously approved some reductions in its plans for the money. The district will spend $3 million less than the planned $16 million on upgrades to its computer network.

A $3 million project to update curriculum will be sliced by $1 million and the district will spend $4.4 million on building systems improvements, not $6.4 million.
