Forest Service names interim directors: Joe Kennedy and Cindy Chapman Enstrom were recently named interim directors for the Alaska Region of the U.S. Forest Service. Both will fill their positions for a one-year period.
Kennedy will serve as director of engineering and aviation management. He has been with the Forest Service in Alaska for more than 17 years. Enstrom was named director of wildlife, fisheries, ecology and watershed. Her tenure with the agency spans 20 years and three states.
New Southeast Conference executive director: Frank Homan of Juneau has been appointed executive director of Southeast Conference, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the quality of life for all residents of Southeast. Homan is a former director of the Division of Industrial Development for the Alaska Department of Economic Development. He also was a founding partner of the economic development firm Homan-McDowell and served for five years as a commissioner with the Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission.
New Alaska USA branches in Carrs/Safeway: Alaska USA Federal Credit Union has finalized an agreement with Safeway to open Alaska USA branches in three additional Safeway/Carrs stores, one of them in Juneau. Alaska USA currently has two branches in Juneau.
Pet Nanny joins kennel association: Pet Nanny's Place has been accepted as a new member of the American Boarding Kennel Association. Pet Nanny's Place will maintain and operate its boarding facility in accordance with ABKA's standards of ethical conduct and pet safety, care and comfort.
Williams receives lifetime achievement award: Vickie Williams was recently presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Accounting Excellence by the Alaska Capital Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants. The award, presented annually to a Juneau-area accountant, recognizes outstanding accounting performance.
Eaddy lauded for superior performance: Dorotherine Eaddy recently received a Superior Performance Award from the National Association of Government Accountants at its national conference. Eaddy served as president of the Alaska Capital Chapter while it achieved both Gold Chapter and All Star Chapter recognition.
Dzinich receives national service award: Kristin Dzinich recently received a National AGA Chapter Service Award from the National Association of Government Accountants at its national conference. The award recognized Dzinich's sustained leadership and service to the Alaska Capital Chapter by serving as president, holding numerous board positions, volunteering for public service projects, promoting AGA and providing assistance to other board members.
