Organization description: The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters, emergency communication to military families; and prepares people to respond to emergencies through public health and safety education.

Years of service: Over 40 years.

Volunteer positions available: One-time volunteers are needed for disaster relief, to be deployed outside of Alaska for a three-week term. Must be 18 years or older. Orientation and an eight-hour class required for training. Regular and one-time volunteers are needed for local disaster relief teams, must be 18 years or older; local office support (accounting, phones, fundraising, public relations, etc.); and local volunteer coordination (data intake, interviews, etc.). Flexible hours. Training provided.

Background check/prerequisites: Background check required for disaster teams. References and orientation also required.

In-kind/material donations needed: Office supplies (computer paper, manilla folders, paperclips); 4-drawer locking file cabinet.
