FAIRBANKS - The flooding in Alaska's Interior was subsiding in some areas over the weekend, while water continued to rise downstream of Nenana, putting the village of Old Minto at risk.
State officials began assessing the damage Saturday while a flooding warning remained in place for the Tanana River from Fairbanks to Manley Hot Springs through noon Sunday.
Flooded areas include Salcha, Nenana and some west Fairbanks neighborhoods.
Train travel remained at a halt because of flooding on tracks in Nenana. The flooding washed out some of the rail bed, according to railroad officials.
Borough officials downgraded the number of homes affected by flooding, from 500 to 300.
