ANCHORAGE - The police chief of Alaska's largest city is retiring.
KTUU reports Chief Rob Heun made the announcement Monday. He's been chief since 2006, and on the force for 26 years. He said with a new mayor in office, the decision to leave makes sense.
Mayor Dan Sullivan said a seven-person search committee has been established. Heun's last day will be Aug. 14, and Deputy Chief Steve Smith becomes the interim police chief the following day.
