The Gastineau Channel Little League Juniors All-Star team continued to pick up steam after a 7-5 win over Post Falls, Idaho, Tuesday in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Juneau kept its momentum going after winning the state title last weekend in Anchorage, and will face Southern California today in round-robin pool play.
The Juniors rallied for the victory after Idaho posted two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.
After a Jackson Pavitt single scored R.J. Markovich to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the first, Markovich belted a two-run home run to deep right field in the third to give Juneau a 3-2 lead.
Johansen's solo shot in the bottom of the fourth pushed Juneau ahead 4-2, and Nathan Klein's fifth-inning single up the middle drove in Tanner Petrie and Collin Ludeman to make it 6-2.
Idaho made things interesting in the top of the sixth inning with a three-run homer of its own, but Juneau's Jeffrey Pusich tacked on an insurance run with a successful suicide squeeze bunt in the bottom of the frame to push his GCLL ahead 7-5.
Gus Swinton picked up the win for Juneau, with Pavitt notching the save.
