Anchorage man facing counterfeiting charges

Posted: Thursday, August 05, 2010

ANCHORAGE - An Anchorage man who answered an ad on Craigslist seeking customer service help has been indicted on federal counterfeiting charges.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Bradley Blodgett was hired by a person in Nigeria to print counterfeit checks and mail them to various recipients in the United States. Blodgett also was told what account numbers to use and who to make the checks out to.

Prosecutors say the recipients would then cash the checks, keep a portion for themselves and wire the remainder to Blodgett. Blodgett then allegedly kept a portion for himself and wired the remainder to Nigeria.

If convicted, Blodgett could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
