Chilkoot Trail Hike - SAGA's Eagle Valley Center will be leading a hike of the historic gold rush trail of 1898 for youth and teens ages 14-16. Juneau Youth Football League registration - Juneau Youth Football League practices have already begun for the 2006 season. Saturday, Aug. 25, is the last registration weekend for players and cheerleaders. No registrations will be accepted after Aug. 25. Space is limited. Co-ed Master's Soccer League - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer League is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. JDHS swimming and diving meeting - There will be a mandatory meeting for all high school students interested in joining the JDHS swimming and diving team on Monday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. All students should meet at the front door of the JDHS commons at 2 p.m. Swim practice is at 3 p.m. on that Monday while diving practice will be at 7 p.m. Swimmers should bring dry land and swim workout clothes and a completed physical screening form. Juneau Parks and Recreation volleybal packets available - Juneau Parks and Recreation men's and women's volleyball team manager packets are available at the Parks and Recreation office, located on the second floor of the municipal building, Room 218. Team registration will be conducted on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 5:15 p.m. in the assembly chambers. Late registration will be taken Friday, Aug. 11, at the Parks and Recreation office. Football officials needed - The Juneau-Douglas Officials Association is looking for individuals to be football officials. Officiating is a great way to not just watch the games, but to become an active participant in them. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
