JUNEAU - Friends of Mark Reese, who was critically injured when he fell off a Ketchikan cliff Saturday, have opened a donation fund through Wells Fargo to help the Juneau construction worker and his family.

Donations can be made at any Well Fargo branch.

Reese is doing better but he's not out of the woods yet, said Connie Carlton, a family friend. She said Reese underwent surgery on his spine Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Well-wishers may send cards - but no flowers - to Reese at Harborview Medical Center, 325 Ninth Ave., Surgery Intensive Care Unit Room 928, Seattle, WA 98104-2499. People also can contact Reese by visiting and selecting the e-mail a patient tab.

Carlton said there are plans for a fundraiser, which will be announced later.
