JUNEAU - The city's water utility began work this week to flush the water distribution system, and residents may see effects at their taps, according to a statement released by the city of Juneau.
The release said that if residents see water that appears stirred up or discolored, it is recommended they wait until workers have left the neighborhood and then run cold water from the bathtub faucet to help clear the lines.
The work is expected to take up to two weeks to complete. It started Monday in the area between Juneau-Douglas High School and Bartlett Regional Hospital. It will move to Douglas, then north from the hospital campus toward Mendenhall Valley and the area of Cohen Drive.
Questions can be directed to the water utility at 780-6808.
