The Gastineau Channel Little League Juniors rallied to defeat the Southern California Little League All-Stars 4-3 Wednesday in the second game of West Region pool play in Laguna, Calif.
Southern Cal took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, only to see Juneau even things up in the bottom of the frame after Tod Baseden drew a leadoff walk. Baseden evntually scored from third on a passed ball.
Southern Cal then tacked on two more runs in the top of the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Juneau closed the gap to 3-2 after Kellen Johansen scored from second on a failed pick-off attempt by the pitcher.
In the bottom of the fifth, Baseden and R.J. Markovich hit back-to-back singles, and Tanner Petrie walked to load the bases. Jackson Pavitt's two-out double scored Baseden and Markovich, pushing GCLL back out front.
Markovich retired the side in the sixth and seventh to pick up the win. Pusich, Nathan Klein and Markovich combined for eight strike outs and just two walks.
