An inappropriate place for preference

The idea of ranking one's favorite books or the best movies of the year recognizes the need to evaluate one's personal preferences based on experience. It's fun and generates party conversation.

The selection of the person(s) to represent one in future political decisions is quite different. A citizen has the responsibility to evaluate and select the best person to represent her/his ideas. Ranking is not an appropriate approach to this decision.

I recommend a "No" vote on the preferential voting issue in the upcoming election.
