Longtime Douglas resident Ella G. Lee, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Bartlett Regional Hospital.
She was born in New York, N.Y., on April 12, 1930, to Luise and Heinrich Graul. In 1933, the family moved to Neundorf, Sachsen Anhalt, Germany, where she attended school. In 1947, she moved to Juneau where her sister and brother resided. She worked as a hairdresser for Lucille Stein during the 1950s and became a housewife. She married Jack O. Lee Jr. in 1953.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking, picnicking, swimming and viewing the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Hoepfner; her brother, Karl "Hap" Seegert; and her husband, Jack O. Lee Jr.
She is survived by her son, Steve Lee of Douglas; daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Skip House of Kalama, Wash., Cindy and Gary Morgan of Maple Falls, Wash.; nephew, Pete Hoepfner of Juneau; niece, Anita (Hoepfner) Bukowski of Chicago; grandsons, Scott Morgan of Juneau, Kyle Morgan of Maple Falls, Wash., Mark House of Kalama, Wash.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kelly and Dan Norton of Longview, Wash.; great-grandson, Elijah Norton; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores and Red Holloway, Yvonne and Phil Martin, and Joann and Charlie Tuell.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lee, Pete Hoepfner, Scott Morgan, Mike Holloway, Gary Martin, Greg Martin and Phil Martin.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, at the Alaska Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3839 Riverside Drive.
