For the first time in its 50-year history, the AFL-CIO voted to break with the U.S. government over a foreign war. The decision to adopt a resolution calling for rapid return of all U.S. troops from Iraq was the product of more than a year of patient and steady organizing on the part of anti-war labor activists and union leaders across the country, led and coordinated by U.S. Labor Against the War.
