Youths from Southeast Alaska and parts of the Yukon haul barrels, tires and other trash in the rain Friday from the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge. Nearly 100 participated in a three-day Youth Conference sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It included the cleanup in conjunction with the Litter Free program. The youths earned $8 an hour and are donating the money to Project Playground for the upcoming community built playground at Twin Lakes.
