Juneau Rapids take 3rd place at Zane Cup in Anchorage

Alaska State Cup starts today in Wasilla

The Juneau Soccer Club Rapids took third place at in the Under-12 boys division of the Zane Cup on Sunday in Anchorage.

The Rapids fell behind 2-0 at halftime against Velocity 95 Blue on Sunday, rallied to within a goal but ended up losing 4-2 in the semifinal match.

Brenyn Marshall and Stuart Thurston helped anchor the Rapids' defense. Lucas Tempel, Adam Eberhardt played up top while Leo Steedle, Danny Nore, Jackson Lehnhart, Devon Gross and Kyle Sielbach played in the midfield.

Martin Woodby, Marc Heifetz, Thurston and Marshall held down the defense while Zach Miller and Kevin Sigler split time in goal.

The youth tournament season keeps rolling today in Wasilla as a number of Juneau Soccer Club squads will take part in the Alaska State Cup.
