Juneau-Douglas High School made the top five in the first Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network football poll of the season.
The Crimson Bears were ranked fourth in the large schools division.
Defending state champions South Anchorage were ranked first.
Juneau-Douglas fell to South Anchorage in the state semifinals last season.
Railbelt Conference members Chugiak and Palmer were ranked second and third, respectively, while Service rounds out the top five.
In the small schools poll, Soldotna earned the top spot followed by Kenai Central, Eielson, Kodiak and Houston.
The Crimson Bears open the season at 8 p.m. Saturday against visiting Kodiak.
