Alaska Youth Summit benefit luncheon

To benefit the Alaska Youth Summit, the Cruise Industry Charitable foundation will host a fundraising luncheon on Thursday Aug. 9 at noon aboard the Holland America Ship Statendam. The suggested contribution for lunch is $25 and all proceeds will go to the Waterfall Committee, the sponsoring charity of the Alaska Youth Summit.

The Alaska Youth Summit seeks to bring young people from across the state together to develop recommendations for change to help our youth realize their hopes and dreams. It will take place in October at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. More information on the summit can be found at the Web site:

Participants in the summit will benefit from a valuable leadership experience and will be responsible for carrying the collective ideas of their peers back to their home communities. In addition, the summit will expose young people to important data about the problems that confront their peers and some ideas for improving their circumstances. Five of the participants will also be selected to deliver the recommendations of the Alaska Youth Summit to appropriate government officials in Juneau and Washington, D.C.
