Kake Foods nominated as tribal 'showcase business' for summit

KAKE - Kake Foods Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kake Tribal Corp., has been nominated as a showcase business at the upcoming National Summit on Emerging Tribal Economies in Phoenix, Ariz., this September.

More than 2,600 attendees are expected at the conference, including tribe members, tribal and Native-owned enterprises, and representatives from major corporations and from numerous federal agencies and bureaus.

If selected as a showcase business, Kake Foods, a seafood processor, will make a presentation to the summit participants, discussing a range of topics including its diversification, new and existing products, and the barriers it has overcome.

Kake Foods is the largest employer in Kake, with over 150 workers during the busy season. Annual revenues exceed $1.4 million, the company said.

Era offers online reservations

JUNEAU - Era Aviation has announced that customers now may book reservations online through the company's Web site,

The company also will offer one- and two-day vacation packages to many of the communities it serves.

These pre-packaged tour options include Kenai, Valdez, Homer, Cordova, Kodiak and Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. Trips include several options such as sightseeing, kayaking and bear viewing. Hotel rooms and rental cars are part of the package.
