Longtime Juneau resident Donna J. Garrison died Aug. 2, 2002, at the Juneau Pioneers' Home.
She was born May 8, 1929, in Bennett, Colo. She attended first through eighth grade in the same one-room school. She graduated from Union High School in Adam City, Colo.
She was employed by the federal Bureau of Public Roads/Federal Highway Administration. She transferred in April 1949 to Juneau, where she worked until her retirement in May 1984.
Her family said that prior to her stroke, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, knitting and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and at the Pioneers' Home enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer.
She was preceded in death by her son David Garrison and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Garrison; son Bruce (Raydene) Garrison; daughter Diana (James) Reid; grandchildren Carly and Matthew Garrison, Charles and Gary Reid, all of Juneau; Jenna Beckerman of Warrenton, Ore.; and brother Glen Foland of Apache Junction, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at the Juneau Pioneers' Home at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002.
