Concerts

Guitarist Lynn Patrick, with pianist Robert Cohen and violinist Lisa Ibias, original instrumental music, 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Hangar on the Wharf, no cover; 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Northern Light United Church, $30 or $50 per couple, benefit for Jabali, reception follows.

Brenda Willis Bruce Friday Concerts in Marine Park, folk music with Mary DeSmet, Art Morris; and Greg Burger original songs; Rhythm Method drum circle; and rock musician Dave Conway, emcee Becky Bear, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, Marine Park.

Events

"The Merchant of Venice," and "Entropic Discombobulation," performances by students in Perseverance Theatre's STAR program, Perseverance Theatre main stage. "Entropic" will be performed at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10; "Merchant" will be performed at 7 p.m. Aug. 8, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Aug. 10. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for youths 18 and under. Exhibits

Eleventh Annual Beaded Bag show, at Spirit Beads, through September, hours noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Sealaska Juried Art Show, 18 pieces of art by Alaska Native artists, glass sculpture, fiber arts, regalia, beadwork, basketry and carving at the Alaska State Museum, through September.

"Tenacity: Sam Kimura Retrospective," about 65 large-format black-and-white photographs (and variety of other photographic styles) by Alaska photographer, Alaska State Museum.

"Arctic," a collection of work by nature photographer Robert Glenn Ketchum, exhibit of 50 color prints at Alaska State Museum, through Sept. 2. State museum hours: 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily, $5 admission.

"Dancing the Ice Worm Wiggle: Recreation, Entertainment and Amusements of Early Juneau," and "Cruising the Inside Passage," summer exhibit of tourism memorabilia from 1930s and '50s, at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum through September. Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekends.

Workshops
